Google apps default mail client windows xp




















Either email addresses are anonymous for this group or you need the view member email addresses permission to view the original message. Apologies if answer is elsewhere I am not very proficient at searching. I just clicked on a hyperlink to email someone and get a message saying the message could not be sent because the default email client is not installed.

I am just using the Windows mail program. Sorry if that was not clear. OK, it sounds like Windows Mail does not have all of its defaults, in particular, the MailTo protocol. To fix this: Go to Default Programs, which you can access either from the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item: "Set your default programs.

Click on Windows Mail. If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults" then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow. Gary im having this same issue followed your directions.. Did you verify through Default Programs that Windows Mail has all three of its defaults? Please describe the symptoms you are seeing, what error message you get, and the steps that cause that error message to pop up.

Gary, I am having the same problem as well. I have checked that all 3 defaults are set. This has happened since I installed 'Windows Live Mail' and then uninstalled it again. I am having the same issue, after installing a trial of outlook. I am not a computer tech by any means, but I stumbled on the fix for my computer after trying the fixes above.

In vista, in the same box with the set default programs is Set program access and computer details. In that link I chose the Custom drop down and found default email program then selected windows mail.

The question is the best way to go about it. I've seen it work as well, and surprised everyone was so quick to jump at the "it can't be done" theory. If we break it down all we are doing when we click the mailto link is call on an application.

We can start an application with flags or shortcuts, like IE to open a website if I add it to the shortcut so I don't see why it would be difficult to direct the mailto link to a shortcut that opens up to your OWA page. The reg hacks are simply adding the OWA option to the list of default programs. You obviously have to set the correct page in the regkey but that's it.
